KIA Research and Development Company was established on January 1, 2011, in Herat, Afghanistan, and is registered with the Afghanistan Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Reg. No: D031119). With offices in Kabul and Herat, KIA offers services nationwide, specializing in ISO certifications, FSSC 22000, organic certification, ISO Lead Auditor training, business development, capacity building, and project research.
KIA’s team has extensive experience, having implemented over 100 projects across various sectors, including capacity development, business research, and certifications for local and international clients, such as USAID, UN agencies, GIZ, DAI, and World Vision. KIA has helped Afghan businesses improve their management systems, gain international compliance, and compete on a global scale.
KIA has agreements with international certification bodies to facilitate the certification audit process by the local audit team of the CBs:

• IRQS (Indian Registry Quality System): Through this agreement, KIA handles the marketing process for FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000 certification services across Afghanistan. Audits are conducted by the local auditors of IRQS in Afghanistan.
• SISBEL Certification: Since 2015, KIA has partnered with SISBEL to offer ISO Standards, HACCP, HALAL, GMP, and GDP certifications accredited by TÜRKAK, serving more than 100 Afghan companies with globally recognized standards.
• CERES: KIA is the sole facilitator of Organic Certification (EU, NOP, JAS) in Afghanistan, enabling companies such as the Afghanistan Red Gold Saffron Company to access international markets by offering certified organic products.

Additionally, KIA partners with EmpowerNexs LLC, an innovative business development company based in California. Through this collaboration, KIA further strengthens its capacity in business development, women’s empowerment, sustainability studies, and capacity development projects in Afghanistan and beyond.
