ISO & HACCP Consulting Services
KIA has successfully executed projects involving HACCP and ISO consulting for 87 small, medium, and large companies across various value chains in Afghanistan since 2019. Funded by USAID/DAI/Afghan Value Chain Programs and USAID/DAI/ACEBA, the targeted companies established food safety, quality management, and HACCP systems, developed staff capacities, and improved internal management systems.
Project Stages:
- Stage I: Comprehensive company assessment, checklists, reports, corrective action plans
- Stage II: HACCP system development, SWOT & PESTLE analyses
- Stage III: HACCP/ISO training, presentations, and training documents
- Stage IV: Post-assessment of livestock and crop businesses, post-assessment reports
HACCP & Traceability Mentorship Program
KIA successfully executed a comprehensive food safety project for 15 saffron businesses in Herat and Balkh provinces, funded by USAID/DAI/ACEBA. The project was implemented in three stages over 11 months in 2023 and 2024. In Stage I, KIA hired core project management and food safety specialists, developed all required documents, and oriented the specialists with their tasks. In Stage II, KIA’s mentors were present in each company, working closely with businesses to develop their staff capacities through a detailed capacity development plan. The mentors guided companies in implementing HACCP, Food Safety Management, and Traceability Systems, ensuring compliance with international standards. This phase involved ongoing assessments, quarterly and monthly plans, and hands-on mentoring to improve internal processes and readiness for certification. The development of the Traceability System allowed companies to align with US and EU market requirements. Stage III saw the preparation of the final Food Safety Action Plan reports, detailing the support provided to each company in completing the HACCP and Traceability Mentorship Program. These improvements positioned the companies to pass third-party audits for certification. The saffron businesses were now better prepared to compete in international markets, improve product quality, and enhance their operational efficiency. Throughout the project, KIA took full responsibility for logistics, timely reporting to DAI/ACEBA, and delivering high-quality services, ensuring the long-term sustainability of food safety practices.
GIZ Afghan Police Cooperation Project (PCP) Literacy Program
KIA was awarded contracts from 2016 to conduct six-day workshops for Afghan National Police (ANP) facilitators as part of the GIZ Afghan Police Cooperation Program. Due to KIA’s high-quality workshops, the contract was extended until December 2021 but due to government changes stopped on August 2021. KIA conducted over 500 workshops on topics such as police law, human rights, ending violence against women, and gender awareness. This project contributed to enhancing police capacities across Afghanistan. The project was delivered in four stages:
- Curriculum and Material Development
- Workshop Execution
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Reporting
