Learning for Life (LFL) Project Evaluation

In 2016, World Vision International launched the Learning for Life (LFL) Project in Herat and Badghis Provinces, Afghanistan, to enhance health and literacy education for caregivers, especially young illiterate women in remote, insecure areas, using interactive mobile technology. Concluding in June 2019, the project was evaluated by KIA Research & Development, which was contracted by World Vision in July 2019 to assess its effectiveness. The evaluation, conducted in September-October 2019, involved 415 households and utilized surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and document reviews to compare outcomes between traditional and mobile-based education groups. Key findings centered on areas such as Positive Parenting, Maternal and Child Health, WASH, and literacy skills, with recommendations provided to enhance future projects. The evaluation was carried out with a strong focus on ethical standards and data quality.

Reintegration of Vulnerable Children through TVET and Employment Facilitation

KIA Research & Development conducted the final evaluation of the “Reintegration of Vulnerable Children through TVET and Employment Facilitation” project, which aimed to support 2,300 vulnerable children across Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Farah provinces in Afghanistan. Funded by UNICEF, WFP, and ADH, and implemented by Help in collaboration with OSAA, the project provided Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and employment facilitation to equip children with skills and opportunities to improve their livelihoods. The evaluation, conducted in September and October 2022, involved surveys and interviews with 65 randomly selected beneficiaries and key stakeholders, including UNICEF, WFP, and DoLSA. With a 6-month training duration and toolkit averaging 12,000 Afghanis per beneficiary, the evaluation aimed to measure the project’s success in achieving its goals and offered recommendations for future initiatives.
